Preview of DWG: German Spine Congress 2015
10–12 December 2015
Frankfurt, Germany
Michael Rauschmann looks forward to the 10th Annual Meeting of the German Spine Society
The 10th annual meeting of the German Spine Society (DWG) will take place in Frankfurt am Main this year. On this special occasion we want to focus on the history of pathologies as well as on the evolution of treatment in special fields and on the future of spine surgery.
Today, the German Spine Society belongs to the largest independent societies for spine treatments in Europe and the DWG maintains a good and successful co-operation with the European Spine Society in terms of their educational programmes.
This year’s congress will focus on a number of different topics, including revision strategies of failed spine surgeries, treatment of complications, and conservative treatment of degenerative pathologies, including pain. Furthermore, a complete session for ‘fast track surgery-pathways’ is preserved and will be introduced by a keynote lecture.
We will have pro- and contra-sessions about the failed back surgery syndrome, the philosophy of short- and long-instrumentations in the treatment of degenerative scoliosis and the advantages and disadvantages of cement augmentation of pedicle screws.
Frankfurt am Main is situated in the centre of Germany and is well known as the largest financial centre in continental Europe. A unique feature of Frankfurt is its significant number of skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, which led to its nickname Mainhattan.
Visitors can visit many important historic buildings, such as the Frankfurt Cathedral and St Paul’s Church, where in 1848 the National Assembly passed the first democratic constitution for Germany. Frankfurt also has one of the largest selections of museums in Europe, with more than 30 available to visit.
I would like to invite you to join this interesting meeting in Frankfurt, either as an auditor or an active participant.
Yours,
Professor Michael Rauschmann
President of the German Spine Society
