March winner announced for Ottobock C-Leg photo competition
Bridget Holden announced as #mycleg March finalist
Prosthetic manufacturer Ottobock has announced Bridget Holden as the March winner of the ‘My C-Leg’ photo competition. In addition to a £100 shortlist prize, her entry, which depicts her abseiling in the Lake District, will go into the over-all prize draw to be voted for by Facebook users. The competition is designed to celebrate the remarkable amputees in the UK who have overcome adversity and not let disability get in their way. Images submitted ranged from sporting achievements right through to the challenges that amputees overcome every day.
Bridget said “I am a farmer and have been using a C-Leg since 2007. Not only does it let me forget that I am an above-knee amputee, it allows me to continue my lifestyle and work on the farm and copes with whatever I throw at it. I believe in challenging myself everyday, whether I am lambing, abseiling, climbing, horse riding, on the quad bike or just walking the dogs. I also belong to Norwich Canoe Club and paddle kayaks, however I do remove my C-Leg as it is not waterproof. I live and work on a farm and the C-Leg is the only prosthetic that can cope with the uneven ground. I think if I did not have my C-Leg life would be very dull for me.”
The competition, which launched in March, will run for two more months across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Monthly finalists will be chosen from entries and awarded £100. The monthly winners will automatically be entered into the final and an overall winner will be voted for by Ottobock’s Facebook followers. All entries must also be registered online here and each photograph should be submitted with a caption explaining their C-Leg achievement. Terms and Conditions apply and can be found on the Ottobock website.
