The system permits examinations at any gantry position whilst ensuring that images are always angled for the best possible visibility. It also includes a second isocentric working position that permits free head access to the patient or anaesthesia equipment. The detector provides high contrast resolution to improve accuracy in image-guided procedures at a reduced radiation dose.
The system has been equipped with syngo DynaCT, an application that will be used for neurological interventions. This will provide CT-like imaging of the head, neck and spine in order to enhance diagnosis and treatment.
We selected the Artis zee because it allowed us the flexibility to carry out general interventional work, cardiology and neurology, in the tiniest babies to young adults, said Dr. Andrew Healey, Consultant Paediatric Interventional Radiologist at Alder Hey Hospital. The adaptable nature of the Artis zee means that we can now offer neurological interventions at Alder Hey and provide continuity of care to our young patients.
