DIPLOMAT® pedicle screw system is double award winner
German manufacturer SIGNUS Medizintechnik are celebrating after their DIPLOMAT® pedicle screw system has been awarded the globally acclaimed “Red Dot“ seal of quality. The implant was also awarded the senetics Innovation Award in March.
DIPLOMAT is a modular system with in-situ interchangeable tulips and self-tapping thread, which is suitable for all indications and makes implantation more efficient due to its features. This, and the innovative design of the implant, convinced the jurors of both expert jurys.
The DIPLOMAT pedicle screw system for thoracolumbar dorsal instrumentation ensures maximum safety and stability for operations on the spine. It is suitable for all indications and facilitates precise stabilization of the spine. The two-piece implant has a modular design: depending on the indication and surgical procedure, polyaxial or monoaxial screws are combined with the appropriate tulips. A significant advantage of this is that the tulip can be removed and replaced in-situ during surgery.
The Red Dot Award is an internationally acclaimed award for high design quality. It is only awarded to products that stand out from similar products due to their outstanding design. The award for best Product Design has been presented annually since 1954. This year, the 41-strong Red Dot jury, made up of independent designers, design professors and specialist journalists, evaluated all 5,214 entries in accordance with the strict Red Dot statutes and awarded prizes to outstanding achievements, including DIPLOMAT.
The special technical features of the DIPLOMAT system impressed the expert jury for the senetics Innovation Award. In the category “Most Innovative Product in the Healthcare Sector”, SIGNUS received 1st prize on 1 March 2016 for DIPLOMAT.
This prize is awarded annually in various categories for the most innovative medical technology, pharmaceutical and biotechnology products. The aim is to promote and support the innovative ability of institutions and companies.
